About The Position

Florida ENT & Allergy, a division of ENT and Allergy Associates of Florida, is hiring a full-time Certified Medical Assistant for its Riverview office. The practice provides general and subspecialty ENT medical and surgical care, including diagnosis and rehabilitative services. This role suits an experienced Medical Assistant who is comfortable with in-office procedures, can manage a high volume of incoming patients, is motivated and self-directed, and is willing to learn about ENT, Allergy, and Audiology.

Requirements

• At least one year of hands-on Medical Assistant experience.
• Current Medical Assistant certification.
• Comfort assisting with surgical procedures.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a clear speaking voice.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with patients, physicians, and team members at all times.
• EMR experience.
• Strong computer literacy.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including using medical and office equipment, assisting patients with transfers, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual Spanish language skills.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient calls.
• Take patient vital signs.
• Obtain authorizations.
• Schedule diagnostic tests and surgeries.
• Prepare examination rooms.
• Assist physicians with procedures in examination rooms as needed, including wax removal, biopsies, and surgical procedures; obtain proper consent and follow scope-of-practice requirements.
• Call in prescriptions.
• Clean and sterilize instruments according to CDC and ENTAAF guidelines.
• Brief the physician on each patient before the physician enters the examination room.
• Travel between ENTAAF offices for support purposes when required.
