About The Position

UVA Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join the Dermatology Clinic in Charlottesville, Virginia. This role is vital in a high-demand specialty, supporting patients through diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing dermatologic care. As a Certified Medical Assistant in Dermatology, you will help ensure efficient clinic operations while providing compassionate support to patients throughout their care journey. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • None required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), the AMT (American Medical Technologists), NAHP (The National Healthcare Association), the ARMA (American Registry of Medical Assistants), or the NHA (National Healthcare Association).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Obtain and document patient information, medical histories, and vital signs.
  • Assist providers with dermatologic examinations and procedures.
  • Support patient education and reinforce treatment plans and follow-up instructions.
  • Coordinate patient flow and contribute to an efficient clinic experience.
  • Manage clinical documentation and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Communicate with patients regarding test results, appointments, and care instructions as directed.
  • Collaborate closely with dermatologists, Advanced Practice Providers, nurses, medical assistants, and clinic support staff.
  • Help maintain exam rooms, clinical equipment, and supplies to support daily operations.
  • Contribute to a positive, patient-focused environment while ensuring exceptional service and care delivery.
