About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant performs delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with their Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. The role may support both clinical and front-office functions, providing clerical support and assisting with health care delivery and patient-care activities under the direction of a physician or provider. Duties are carried out in accordance with the specific needs of the practice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant training program; alternatively, at least six months of experience in a Certified Medical Assistant role or proof of completion of an on-the-job certified medical assisting training or education program at another healthcare organization.
• Current certification from one of the approved agencies: AAMA (CMA), AMT or AAH (RMA), NCCT (NCMA), NHA (CCMA), or NAHP (NRCMA).

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a medical office assistant, CNA, or equivalent.
• Previous experience with electronic health records or phlebotomy.
• For work in a Rural Health Clinic setting, BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.
