About The Position

Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our Downtown team. The Medical Assistant will perform all general MA duties, including rooming patients, recording vital signs, entering/updating medications, and verifying allergies and reactions. Our Medical Assistants work alongside our Providers and RNs to assist with procedures and maintain accurate records in EHR. The company is closed on weekends and major holidays, with no night shifts or on-call duties.

Requirements

Medical Assistant Registration required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Nice To Haves

Medical Assistant Certification preferred

Responsibilities

Educate pre/post-operative patients per Provider's instructions.
Draw and prepare injections, label as indicated and record in EHR.
Assist all Providers with procedures such as casting/splints and removal of sutures/staples.
Open and prep exam rooms, stock as indicated. Clean exam rooms and autoclave instruments between patients.
Complete medical history and update surgical information accurately on all post-operative patients.
Prep charts the day before or morning of surgery, including gathering ER notes, op-notes, office notes from other providers, assessing needed documents, determining indicated x-rays, and reading the provider’s previous notes for directions.
Perform sterile dressing changes.
Refill medications per provider protocols. Direct questions to the specific provider.
Order tests – X-rays, CT, US, MRI, lab draws per provider’s request.
