About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides support services to help ensure efficient operation of Fondren Orthopedic’s offices and clinical environment. The role supports doctors and patients through tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. Travel to other Fondren locations in the Houston area is required.

Requirements

• Proven working experience as a medical assistant.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records software and procedures.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program.
• Current CMA certification from AAMA, AMT, or NCCT.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and document basic medical history.
• Organize and schedule appointments.
• Update and file medical records and insurance reports.
• Schedule and pre-certify surgical procedures and laboratory services.
• Assist during medical examinations.
• Scan and index medical documents into patient charts.
• Prepare and clean treatment rooms.
• Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with patients, coworkers, doctors, managers, hospital staff, and other people encountered at Fondren Orthopedic.
