About The Position
As a Certified Medical Assistant at ProMedica, you will work directly with patients and providers to deliver clinical excellence and enhance the patient experience. You will prepare patients for visits by taking and documenting vital signs, performing specialized tests, and preparing schedules while following clinical protocols, regulatory requirements, and standards. You will communicate with patients, peers, and other members of the health care team, apply clinical knowledge when responding to patient phone calls, and relay messages for providers or nurses. You will also serve as a resource and role model for Medical Assistants and Patient Service Coordinator teams. This summary describes the general nature and level of work and is not exhaustive.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant program at an accredited college or university, or one year of work as a Medical Assistant to meet certification requirements.
- Experience in the medical industry in a patient-care or non-patient-care role, or continuing education in a health care-related area of study in lieu of experience.
- Registration or certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited body, or an active state license as an LPN or RN.
- Current AHA BLS (CPR) course card at employment, or certification within 90 days of hire.
- Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) certification at employment, or within one year of hire.
