About The Position

This role combines the responsibilities of a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and a Business Associate (BA) in a Primary & Walk-In Care setting. The CMA performs direct clinical activities under the direction of a physician, Charge RN, or Manager, including patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and other physician-ordered tests. Accurate documentation in an EMR system is crucial, adhering to licensure and VMG policies. The CMA also maintains close working relationships with practice staff to ensure efficient workflow and patient care. The BA handles essential front desk activities such as greeting patients, registration, ensuring insurance compliance, and collecting payments. This includes managing the daily patient schedule, answering calls for appointments, medication refills, and directing inquiries of a clinical or billing nature. The BA coordinates with clinical staff for patient needs and flow, and supports the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
  • Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners (AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management, or business.
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience.
  • Ability to use effective organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office, or outpatient setting.
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire.
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice.

Responsibilities
