About The Position

This role involves performing direct clinical activities under the direction of a physician, Charge RN, or Manager. Key responsibilities include patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and performing tests as required by the physician. The position also requires accurate documentation in an EMR system and maintaining close working relationships with practice staff to ensure efficient workflow and patient care. Additionally, the role encompasses front desk activities such as greeting patients, registration, ensuring insurance compliance, collecting payments, managing the daily patient schedule, and handling incoming calls for appointments, medication refills, and inquiries. Coordination with clinical staff for special patient needs and ensuring smooth patient flow are also essential. The role supports the Practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
  • Certification required as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners (AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management, or business.
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience required.
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire, will be required.
  • Ability to use effective organizational and time management skills to set priorities and respond quickly to urgent/emergent situations.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, presentation) to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to create, maintain, and support a high-functioning team; establish and foster cooperative working relationships with staff and management.
  • Demonstrates behavior that is courteous, caring, respectful, and compassionate at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office, or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred.

Responsibilities
