About The Position

This role involves performing direct clinical activities under the direction of a physician, Charge RN, or Manager. Key responsibilities include patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and performing physician-ordered tests. Accurate documentation in an EMR system is essential, adhering to licensure and VMG policy. The position also requires maintaining strong working relationships with practice staff to ensure efficient workflow, care, and treatment. Additionally, the role encompasses front desk activities such as greeting patients, registration, ensuring insurance compliance, collecting payments, managing the daily patient schedule, and handling incoming calls for appointments, medication refills, and inquiries. Coordination with clinical staff for special patient needs and ensuring smooth patient flow are also part of the duties. Support for the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager is expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
  • Certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners (e.g., AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience.
  • Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office, or outpatient setting.
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management, or business.
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire.
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice.

Responsibilities
