About The Position

This position involves dual responsibilities as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and a Business Associate (BA) in a Podiatry setting. As a CMA, under the direction of a physician, Charge RN, or Manager, the individual will perform direct clinical activities including patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and other physician-required tests. Accurate documentation in an EMR system is essential, adhering to licensure and VMG policy. The role requires maintaining close working relationships with practice staff for optimal workflow, care, and treatment. As a BA, the individual will manage front desk activities such as greeting patients, registration, ensuring insurance compliance, and collecting payments. Responsibilities include maintaining the daily patient schedule, answering incoming calls for appointments, medication refills, and directing clinical or billing inquiries. Coordination with clinical staff for special needs and patient flow is crucial. The position also supports the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
  • Certification required as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners (AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management, or business.
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience.
  • Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office or outpatient setting.
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire, will be required.
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice.
  • Strong orientation towards the provisions of high quality, cost effective and comprehensive medical care.
