About The Position

Seeking a Full-Time Certified English Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is at Devereux Georgia Grace's Place, a new campus that will house a 24-bed Child Caring Institution (Group Home) for victimized youths between the ages of 12 and 17. The role involves instructing assigned clients through the development of a structured classroom environment to promote intellectual, emotional, and social growth. The teacher will plan and implement instructional programs for clients with emotional and behavioral disorders, adhering to the GA Dept of Education and each student's Individual Education Program (IEP). The curriculum follows Gwinnett County Public Schools' platform and the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Class sizes are based on census, with current student distribution across two class rotations. The school follows a modified district calendar, including additional days during Fall and Winter Breaks, and 15 days for Summer Enrichment. Unlike some districts, staff are expected to report to work during inclement weather. The position offers greater autonomy and flexibility with teaching plans, classrooms equipped with Interactive Boards and educational supplies, and the assignment of a direct support professional to assist in the classroom. Unique programs such as art therapy, animal care therapy, yoga, drama, and life-skills are also available.

Requirements

  • Must be 21+ years old.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Georgia Teaching certification: English certification 6-12.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Special Education Teaching Certification SPED preferred.
  • Two (2) years teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement educational instruction and services in accordance with GA Dept of Education and as required by each student's Individual Education Program (IEP).
  • Follow Gwinnett County curriculum and Georgia Standards of Excellence which are grade and subject specific.
