About The Position

Pine Lake Preparatory is currently seeking an ECS Exceptional Children’s (EC) Teacher for grades 6-12 for the 2026-2027 school year. The EC Teacher should be motivated, flexible, and have the ability to work in diverse teams, as well as with students with moderate to severe educational needs. The EC Teacher will work in a school based resource environment, as well as off-campus in the community, facilitating job experiences.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree
  • Current NC teaching license in Exceptional Children K-12

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe and welcoming classroom climate and a community based on respect
  • Supervise students in all situations, on-campus and off-campus, ensuring emotional and physical safety
  • Follow all state and federal policies and procedures for the provision of Exceptional Children’s services (including referral, eligibility and services)
  • Develop and implement an Individual Educational Program(IEP) for each assigned child
  • Schedule IEP meetings in a timely manner with the parents and IEP team members
  • Complete all paperwork assigned in a timely manner and following federal timelines as required
  • Attend all meetings for assigned students and new referrals to caseload
  • Collect student data to measure and report progress
  • Collaborate with general education staff, community partners, related service providers to ensure the implementation of IEPs.
  • Monitor student progress, and plan for classroom accommodations/modifications, resource lessons- both academic and life skill based, monitor/support/supplement VPS lessons, and prepare the student for post HS transitions.
  • Work with general education teachers, team leaders, associates, behavioral specialists, community partners, and parents to address student behavior and develop interventions as needed
  • Inform EC Director of any concerns, issues or potential issues with EC
  • Attend faculty, team and leadership meetings
  • Perform non-instructional duties to maintain the safety of students
  • Maintain current license and pursue professional development opportunities
  • Uphold standards set by the NC Department of Public Instruction.
