About The Position
We are seeking a highly experienced Certification Engineer with strong expertise in embedded software and DO-178B/C processes to support aerospace certification activities. The selected candidate will initially work onsite at Everett, WA facility for the first month and transition to a remote role thereafter. This role requires deep knowledge of FAA/EASA certification, software lifecycle documentation, and DER support, along with hands-on experience in embedded software analysis and testing.
Requirements
- Strong experience in Embedded Software Engineering (Minimun 5 years of experience)
- Hands-on expertise with DO-178B/C certification processes (Minimun 5 years of experience)
- Proven experience preparing certification documents
- Familiarity with all Software Accomplishment Summary (SAS) artifacts
- Experience supporting DERs and audit processes (SOI1–SOI4)
- Solid understanding of FAA/EASA certification requirements
Nice To Haves
- Experience in aerospace or avionics systems
- Strong analytical and debugging skills in embedded environments
- Prior experience working with Boeing or large aerospace OEMs
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed analysis of embedded software including: Memory management (dynamic/static memory, memory leaks), Object code analysis, Watchdog timers, Hardware/software partitioning, Dead code and deactivated code analysis
- Develop and execute embedded software testing strategies
- Conduct: Unit testing, Hardware-Software Integration Testing, Software-Software Integration Testing
- Create and review: Test plans and procedures, Structural coverage analysis, Worst-case execution time (WCET) analysis
- Prepare and review certification documentation in accordance with DO-178B/C
- Develop and review Software Accomplishment Summaries (SAS)
- Work with certification artifacts including: SDP (Software Development Plan), SVP (Software Verification Plan), PSAC (Plan for Software Aspects of Certification), HLR/LLR (High/Low-Level Requirements), SCI, SCMP, SVMP
- Support Stage of Involvement (SOI1–SOI4) audits
- Collaborate with FAA/EASA authorities
- Provide hands-on support to Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs)
- Ensure compliance with aerospace certification standards and regulatory requirements
