About The Position

Our client is ramping up for a large-scale telecommunications Central Office deployment and network migration project across Virginia. We are seeking experienced Central Office Technicians with hands-on carrier telecom experience to join the project. This is not a survey-only position. Technicians will support multiple phases of the deployment, including site surveys, migration readiness, equipment installation, cabling, integration and scheduled cut-over activities.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience working in telecommunications Central Offices, carrier wire centers or similar carrier facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Central Office equipment, racks/bays, shelves, cards, ports, patch panels and cross-connects.
  • Experience tracing telecom circuits, cables and connections.
  • Ability to read engineering records, equipment lists, rack elevations and network documentation.
  • Experience working safely around live production telecom equipment.
  • Central Office equipment installation experience including rack & stack, cabling, power and grounding.
  • Ability to accurately document field conditions using Excel or electronic field tools.
  • Willingness to travel among assigned project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Work inside active carrier Central Offices and wire centers.
  • Survey and document existing telecom equipment, racks, bays, cabling, power and connectivity.
  • Trace circuits, cables, cross-connects and termination points.
  • Verify existing equipment and network records against actual field conditions.
  • Assess rack space, power, grounding and cabling requirements for new equipment.
  • Rack, mount, power, ground, cable and label new customer-provided network equipment.
  • Support network migrations, equipment swaps and cutovers.
  • Perform post-installation documentation and connectivity validation.
  • Follow customer engineering standards, MOPs, safety procedures and change-control requirements.
  • Travel between assigned Central Office locations in Virginia.
