About The Position

The Central Dispatch Technician I prepares, organizes, stores, and distributes hospital supplies, surgical instruments, and equipment to support the daily operations of hospital departments. The role helps ensure that sterile and non-sterile supplies are available and handled properly, maintains inventory, processes supply requisitions, and assists with ordering and charge documentation. The technician also supports departmental efficiency, quality standards, and performance improvement initiatives while contributing to safe and effective patient care.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Three months of related experience and/or training.

Nice To Haves

Two years of recent experience in a hospital supply department.

Responsibilities

Prepare packs of supplies, instruments, dressings, and treatment trays according to designated lists or codes; wrap, label, and seal prepared packs.
Organize and maintain sterile supplies on designated shelves.
Deliver sterile and other supplies to hospital departments as needed.
Operate equipment, perform minor repairs, and make adjustments as needed.
Store prepared items and supplies in designated areas.
Fill supply requisitions, ensure charge slips accompany applicable supplies, record charges, and maintain supply inventories.
Prepare supplies for resale to physicians and document associated charges.
Maintain accurate charge records to facilitate follow-up on physicians' accounts.
Order special and stock items with approval from the Central Services Supervisor.
Assist with the orientation of new employees as requested.
Participate in and support departmental performance improvement initiatives.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Lift, carry, and move supplies, instruments, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
