About The Position

The Central Business Office Rep is responsible for billing professional and hospital claims to insurance companies, addressing patient billing inquiries, reviewing accounts for collection agencies or resubmission, and preparing financial contracts for payment arrangements. This role also involves posting payments, contractual allowances, and all relevant information from Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).

Requirements

  • Mathematical skills including: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and percentages
  • Bookkeeping skills of reconciling and debit/credit functions are necessary
  • Requires negotiating and communication skills along with the use of good judgement
  • Minimum of one month on the job training prior to assuming responsibilities

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in insurance billing
  • Previous experience handling money
  • One year office setting experience

Responsibilities

  • Bills professional and hospital claims to appropriate insurance companies
  • Answers any questions a patient or their representative may have concerning their bill
  • Reviews accounts to be placed with a collection agency or to be resubmitted to an insurance company
  • Prepares financial contracts for payment arrangements
  • Posts payments and contractual allowances and all information contained on a payment EOB and all information contained on a non-payment EOB
