About The Position

Grifols is seeking a Center Medical Specialist for a plasma donation center. The role involves determining donor suitability, supporting donor safety and education, managing injuries and adverse events, and assisting with employee training and the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program. Work is performed in a plasma center and includes potential exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold while working with plasma freezers. Personal protective equipment is required.

Requirements

Be educated and currently certified or licensed in the state of employment, according to state requirements, as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT.
Current CPR certification is required.
Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and to listen to and understand spoken information.
Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions.
Ability to perform a wide range of tasks under variable demands and changing conditions.
Ability to communicate sensitive information to diverse groups.
Hearing acuity is essential.
Color perception and discrimination, and near and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and in the other eye to 20/100.

Responsibilities

Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability.
Build rapport with donors to support overall customer satisfaction.
Ensure donor and staff confidentiality.
Promote donor awareness of potential hazards.
Educate donors about general health and counsel them regarding unacceptable test results.
Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events.
Evaluate histories of illness or medication use to ensure continued donor suitability.
Assist with employee training.
Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program.
