Requirements

  • For personnel with Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management degrees: Two (2) years of engineering experience in relevant transportation projects.
  • For personnel without Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management degree: Eight (8) years of CEI or roadway or bridge construction experience, Two (2) of those years involved in relevant transportation projects.
  • FDOT Advanced MOT (can be obtained within six months of hire)
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level II (can be obtained within six months of hire)
  • CTQP Quality Control Manager (Attend and pass the examination) (can be obtained within six months of hire)

Nice To Haves

  • FDOT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive general instructions regarding assignments and exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
  • Prepare construction inspection summaries of daily activities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and other contract documents for constructability (plans, specs, shop drawings).
  • Manage the team of inspectors, coordinate their schedules, and oversee their work and records.
  • Monitor work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues.
  • Monitor the erosion control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues.
  • Oversee and accept project sampling and testing of component materials and completed work.
  • Verify the dimensions and calculations of prepared and completed work.
  • Analyze complex construction/design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures and consults with design engineering personnel.
  • Inform Client on project issues and provide them with recommendations.
  • Interact with Project Managers and clients in a proactive manner to determine what routine issues affecting project management need to be addressed.
  • Maintain construction project records in accordance with FDOT procedures.
  • Interface proactively with the project managers, contractors, and inspection staff on various facets of the project including review of contract plans and documents, day-to-day construction activities and review of contractors’ submittals.
  • Perform/oversee the review of daily inspection reports and quantity computations.
  • Responsible for the progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration.
  • Track / measure complete work quantities for payment.
  • Adhere to company marketing requirements by providing timely resume updates.
  • Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals.
  • Review detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the work.
  • Communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).
