About The Position

The Academic Affairs Centre (AAC) is a service for students with questions or concerns about academic grievances, discipline, or regulations. AAC volunteers are very knowledgeable about the academic policies of the university and the formal appeal process. AAC volunteers work with all faculties, schools and departments in a non-judgmental, confidential and professional manner, ensuring that both students and professors are treated with respect. From assistance in how to draft emails to professors, to questions about how to approach a TA about grades to appealing requirements to withdraw from Queen's, the AAC works with students to optimize their educational experience.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all training sessions to become familiar with the department and adhere to the general operations of the department
  • Become knowledgeable about academic policy at Queen's
  • Advertise for the service and provide students with information regarding academic discipline and academic grievances
  • Maintain records of cases handled
  • Ensure especially urgent/serious cases be transitioned to the AAC Manager or Commissioner of External Advocacy
  • Complete tasks efficiently and attentively
  • Attend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetings
  • Respect all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
  • Strive to foster a warm, comfortable, and respectful atmosphere for customers and coworkers.
  • Maintain timely communication with direct Supervisor
  • Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement.
  • Complete other duties as assigned
