About The Position

The Housing Resource Centre offers support for students who are experiencing a conflict with a landlord or housemate in a safe and confidential space. Trained student volunteers can also answer questions and provide information on property standards, leases, tenant rights, house hunting, home security, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all training sessions to become familiar with the department and adhere to the general operations of the department
  • Advertise the service and provide students with information regarding concerns about their current or potential housing situation including issues with landlords, property standards violations, clauses within a lease, etc.
  • Ensure especially urgent/serious cases be transitioned to the HRC Manager or External Affairs Commissioner
  • Attend and help with the planning of regular HRC events as needed
  • Maintain records of cases handled
  • Conduct peer-to-peer housing standards and by-law compliance campaigns as coordinated by the Manager as part of the Proactive Property Standards Program
  • Complete tasks efficiently and attentively
  • Attend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetings
  • Respect all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
  • Strive to foster a warm, comfortable, and respectful atmosphere for customers and coworkers.
  • Maintain timely communication with direct supervisor
  • Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement.
  • Complete other duties as assigned
