Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front-, side-, or rear-end-load lift attachments, depending on the business line and vehicle. They transport waste or recyclable materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when the trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers collect containers from customer locations; containers may exceed 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup stage area. Drivers navigate congested roads, driveways, alleyways, and lots, and skilled backing is essential. The role is safety-sensitive and requires strict compliance with safety rules and protocols. Drivers may be subject to pre-employment, post-incident, reasonable-suspicion, and random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with government regulations and company policies. Drivers operate vehicles or equipment safely and reliably, conduct vehicle inspections, follow assigned routes, communicate service issues and customer requests, and complete end-of-day documentation. The posting notes that WM drivers are home at night and on weekends. The position may require business air travel or access to federal property; successful candidates must have or be willing to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative.
