Commercial Drivers collect containers of waste or recyclables, which may weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be moved to a pickup stage area. Residential Drivers collect household waste or recyclables and maneuver vehicles in residential settings. Roll-Off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open-top and compactor containers from customer locations. The work includes driving on congested roads and maneuvering in driveways, alleyways, lots, and, on some industrial routes, areas with tight overhead clearance. Skilled backing maneuvers are essential for some routes. Drivers operate vehicles and/or equipment safely and reliably while following company safety rules and applicable OSHA, DOT, and local, state, and federal requirements. The role is safety-sensitive and requires strict compliance with safety protocols. Candidates must pass pre-employment screening, including a drug screen and physical; employment may also involve drug and alcohol testing as required by regulations and company policies.
