CDL Driver
About The Position
The CDL Driver (Class A or B) is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of building materials, construction products, and equipment to customer locations and job sites. The role combines commercial driving with hands-on support in loading, unloading, securing, and verifying materials while ensuring compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety standards. Depending on the business unit, deliveries may include oversized, specialized, or engineered building components. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, customer-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid Class A or B CDL license in good standing.
- At least 12 months of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Experience operating heavy equipment and driving a manual transmission truck.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Perform touch-freight tasks, which may require lifting, moving, or carrying products weighing over 75 lbs.
- Pre-inspect the truck, load materials, and verify the accuracy of the load.
- Notify branch management of any potential hazards on site.
- Set up job parameters and inspect the site to ensure a safe environment for loading and unloading.
- Maintain regular communication with the dispatcher to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Follow all DOT and company safety procedures and always wear appropriate PPE.
