Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a CDL Driver Trainee or an entry-level CDL Driver in Anchorage, Alaska. Candidates without a CDL can earn $19.00 per hour during training, complete a weeklong classroom course, behind-the-wheel training, and a road test, and work toward a Class B CDL with an air brakes endorsement. The training process may take as little as three weeks, though it can take a few months. After training, drivers transition to a full-time local driver role at $25.00 per hour. Applicants who already have a qualifying CDL start at $25.00 per hour and receive training on safely operating a garbage truck before running a route independently. The role involves local routes and returning home each night. Drivers collect residential and commercial solid waste and recyclables, follow route sheets, inspect and maintain their vehicles, and provide professional customer service.
