CDL Bus Driver
About The Position
As a LifeWise CDL bus driver, you will provide safe and reliable transportation for public school students to and from the LifeWise site. The ideal candidate is responsible and punctual and has a clean driving record. Candidates must have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith and actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with that statement. A CDL with a passenger-vehicle (P) endorsement is required; a school bus (S) endorsement is preferred. Drivers must meet the stated age and licensing requirements, maintain an acceptable driving record, and pass the required background, motor vehicle, and FMCSA Clearinghouse checks. Required drug and/or alcohol testing and, for drivers with known medical conditions, an annual underwriter-approved Physician’s Statement also apply. The position is classified as non-exempt (hourly) and part-time. LifeWise Academy states that its hiring practices and EEO statement comply with federal and state law, including the federal exception permitting religious organizations to give employment preference to members of their religion.
Requirements
- Have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Hold a CDL with a passenger-vehicle (P) endorsement.
- Have been continuously licensed for the past three years.
- Be 21–80 years of age.
- Have a clean driving record, with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
- Undergo and pass a background check through LifeWise Academy.
- Undergo and pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and clear the FMCSA Clearinghouse check.
- Complete drug and/or alcohol testing as required, including pre-employment testing, annual random tests, and testing following traffic accidents.
- Drivers with known medical conditions must obtain a yearly underwriter-approved Physician’s Statement.

Responsibilities
- Transport children and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site.
- Obey traffic laws.
- Maintain the cleanliness and mechanical safety of the bus.
- Perform regular inspections of the bus.
- Refuel the vehicle as needed.
- Create and maintain a safe environment for children.
- Enforce safety rules for students.
- Assist students with entering or exiting the vehicle as needed.
- Demonstrate a calm and caring demeanor.
- Be aware of which students need help or are misbehaving.
- Complete training required by LifeWise Academy.
- Volunteer in the LifeWise classroom if agreed upon with the director.
