CDL Bus Driver
About The Position
As a LifeWise CDL bus driver, you will provide safe and reliable transportation for public school students and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site. The driver is responsible for maintaining the bus, conducting inspections, creating a safe environment for children, and following LifeWise Academy requirements. The position is classified as non-exempt (hourly), part-time, and Grid Level 1a. LifeWise Academy's hiring practices and EEO Statement comply with federal and state law. The description notes that federal law permits religious organizations to give employment preference to members of their own religion.
Requirements
- Have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a passenger vehicle (P) endorsement.
- Have been continuously licensed for the past three years.
- Be 21–80 years of age.
- Drivers above age 75 must submit a copy of their CDL license and passenger (P) endorsement annually via support ticket.
- Have a clean driving record, with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the past five years.
- Undergo and pass a LifeWise Academy background check.
- Undergo and pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and clear the FMCSA Clearinghouse check.
- Complete drug and/or alcohol testing as required, including pre-employment, annual random, and post-traffic-accident testing.
- Drivers with known medical conditions must obtain a yearly underwriter-approved Physician’s Statement.

Responsibilities
- Transport children and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site.
- Obey traffic laws.
- Maintain the cleanliness and mechanical safety of the bus.
- Perform regular inspections of the bus.
- Refuel the vehicle as needed.
- Create a safe environment for children.
- Enforce safety rules for students.
- Assist students with entering or exiting the vehicle as needed.
- Demonstrate a calm and caring demeanor.
- Be aware of which students need help or are misbehaving.
- Complete training required by LifeWise Academy.
- Volunteer in the LifeWise classroom if agreed upon with the director.
