CDL Bus Driver
About The Position
As a LifeWise CDL bus driver, you will provide safe and reliable transportation for public school students and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site. The role requires a responsible and punctual driver with a clean driving record. Drivers must maintain the bus’s cleanliness and mechanical safety, inspect and refuel it as needed, and create a safe, calm, and caring environment for students. The position is classified as non-exempt (hourly) and part-time. LifeWise Academy notes that its hiring practices comply with federal and state law and that religious organizations may give employment preference to members of their own religion.
Requirements
- Have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Hold a CDL and have been continuously licensed for the past three years.
- Hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a passenger vehicle (P) endorsement.
- Be 21–80 years of age.
- Have a clean driving record, with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
- Undergo and pass a background check through LifeWise Academy.
- Undergo and pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and clear the FMCSA Clearinghouse check.
- Complete drug and/or alcohol testing as required, including pre-employment, annual random tests, and testing following traffic accidents.
- If having a known medical condition, obtain a yearly underwriter-approved Physician’s Statement.

Responsibilities
- Transport children and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site.
- Obey traffic laws.
- Maintain the cleanliness and mechanical safety of the bus.
- Perform regular inspections of the bus.
- Refuel the vehicle as needed.
- Create and maintain a safe environment for children.
- Enforce safety rules for students.
- Assist students with entering or exiting the vehicle as needed.
- Demonstrate a calm and caring demeanor.
- Be aware of which students need help or are misbehaving.
- Complete training required by LifeWise Academy.
- Volunteer in the LifeWise classroom if agreed upon with the director.
