About The Position

As a LifeWise CDL bus driver, you will provide safe and reliable transportation for public school students and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site. The driver is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for children, following traffic laws, and keeping the bus clean and mechanically safe. This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. LifeWise Academy may give employment preference to members of its religion as permitted by federal law.

Requirements

• Mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
• Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
• A CDL driver's license; a copy may be kept on file by the LifeWise program.
• Must have been continuously licensed for the past three years.
• Appropriate special licenses: a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger vehicle (P) endorsement is required.
• Must be 21–80 years of age.
• Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
• Undergo and pass a LifeWise Academy background check.
• Undergo and pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and clear the FMCSA Clearinghouse check.
• Complete drug and/or alcohol testing as required, including pre-employment testing, annual random tests, and testing following traffic accidents.
• Drivers with known medical conditions must obtain a yearly underwriter-approved Physician's Statement.

• School bus (S) endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport children and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site.
• Obey traffic laws.
• Maintain the cleanliness and mechanical safety of the bus.
• Perform regular bus inspections.
• Refuel the vehicle as needed.
• Create and maintain a safe environment for children.
• Enforce safety rules for students.
• Assist students with entering or exiting the vehicle as needed.
• Demonstrate a calm and caring demeanor.
• Be aware of which students need help or are misbehaving.
• Complete training required by LifeWise Academy.
• Volunteer in the LifeWise classroom if agreed upon with the director.
