This entry-level dry van CDL-A driving role is based out of the Atlanta home terminal, which is about 90 minutes from Middle Georgia. Freight runs along the Eastern Seaboard and stays east of the Mississippi River. Drivers come home every two weeks. New CDL holders receive 4 to 6 weeks of training at $850 per week, followed by a $1,000 weekly guarantee for the first 3 months of solo driving. Starting mileage pay is $0.55 per mile, increasing by $0.01 per year up to $0.65 per mile. Average weekly pay is $1,200 to $1,500, with $15 stop pay. Drivers use late-model Freightliner trucks with automatic or 10-speed transmissions and haul dry van freight through drop-and-hook and live-load work.
