About The Position

Thompson & Johnson Equipment is hiring a CDL A Truck Driver with a HAZMAT endorsement for its Syracuse team. This local driving role delivers equipment to customer job sites across the Upstate New York region. Drivers load, secure, transport, and deliver equipment, help with unloading and placement, and may provide basic instruction on safe equipment operation. The position offers a consistent weekday schedule and drivers are home every night, with no overnight travel. Overtime opportunities are available as needed.

Requirements

Valid CDL A license with HAZMAT endorsement.
Clean driving record acceptable to the company and its insurance carrier.
Ability to safely operate trucks, trailers, and material handling equipment.
Strong attention to safety and detail.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to complete required paperwork and logs accurately.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Complete a profile assessment.
Pass a DOT physical required for CDL drivers.
Complete DOT drug screening in accordance with federal regulations.

Responsibilities

Load, secure, and transport equipment to and from customer job sites.
Operate trucks and trailers safely and comply with all DOT regulations.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checks of fuel, brakes, lights, and tires.
Deliver equipment to customers and assist with unloading and placement.
Provide basic instruction on safe equipment operation when needed.
Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams.
Complete delivery paperwork, logs, and inspection reports.
Maintain a clean and well-functioning truck and equipment.
