This local CDL-A intermodal driving role is based at the Indianapolis yard and serves a local coverage zone of approximately 200 miles, including regular Chicago trips and shorter local routes. Drivers average approximately 2,000 miles and 17 loads per week, with about 75% of freight handled through drop-and-hook. The position offers an annual average of around $87,000, estimated at $1,620–$1,640 per week. Base mileage pay is $0.59–$0.66 per mile, with a $10,000 sign-on bonus and additional pay for live loads and unloads, drop-and-hooks, crosstown shifts, rail delays, detention, and training. Drivers use modern automatic day-cab tractors in a slip-seat arrangement. Equipment is kept at the yard and is smoke-free and passenger-free. Drivers return home daily. Two schedules are available, both Friday through Tuesday: a 1:00 AM start with Wednesday and Thursday off, or a 9:00 PM night shift. Applicants need at least nine months of verifiable Class-A tractor-trailer experience. A hazmat endorsement is required within 60 days, and the company reimburses the endorsement cost. Candidates must pass a standard DOT physical, urine drug screen, and hair follicle test. Benefits include medical coverage beginning after 30 days, PTO accrued from the first day, 12 PTO days and six holidays initially (with time off scaling up to 32 days maximum), 401(k) matching, and adoption assistance.
