This CDL-A dry van driving role offers routes primarily west of the Mississippi, with most runs lasting three days or less and drivers home every two weeks. Drivers may qualify as new CDL graduates or as experienced drivers. New graduates receive paid training with a mentor for 3 to 5 weeks (200 to 250 hours), followed by their own truck and a $1,000 weekly pay guarantee for their first three months solo. Experienced drivers need at least six months of recent tractor-trailer experience; they attend orientation and then receive their own truck, without a training period. Solo drivers average $1,000 to $1,200 per week while driving 1,800 to 2,200 miles. Mileage pay is based on verifiable experience. A qualified-driver bonus adds up to six cents per mile, and stops other than the first and last pay $15 each. Additional pay is provided when a load requires unloading assistance, such as using a pallet jack or liftgate, or providing assist work. Drivers may request longer runs across the Mississippi. Winter driving in mountain states is expected. The fleet consists of late-model tractors averaging about 1.5 years old, with automatic and 10-speed transmissions. An approved dog up to 40 pounds is allowed for solo drivers and for trainees after training. Adult riders are allowed for solo drivers, and team driving is available for drivers who have a partner. Benefits begin after 30 days. Paid orientation pays $300 and lasts two days or less.
