Entry-level CDL-A drivers haul dedicated dry van food freight for one customer on familiar lanes, with preloaded trailers and drop-and-hook deliveries. About 90% of runs stay between Ohio, Illinois, and Iowa, with occasional trips to Georgia. Drivers average about 2,200 miles per week and may have day or night dispatches and some weekend work. The position offers home time each week for a 34-hour reset. New drivers receive $850 per week during training. After training, the starting rate is $0.60 per mile, increasing up to $0.70 with experience, plus $25 per stop. Average weekly gross pay is stated as $1,400. Orientation takes place in Columbus, lasts up to two days, and pays $300 once hired. After orientation, drivers spend four to six weeks with a mentor learning backing, trip planning, logs, and fueling before receiving an assigned truck. Applicants must hold a Class A CDL and be at least 21 years old. They must have a certificate from a school providing at least 120 hours of training or six months of recent experience, meet the stated driving-record criteria, pass a DOT physical and hair and urine drug screening, and live within 80 miles of Columbus. Benefits begin after the first 30 days.
