About The Position

Big Wheels, a company of Universal Logistics, provides transportation solutions for customers on local and regional lanes, currently serving the Metro-Detroit area. The company operates day-cab and sleeper trucks with 53-foot dry vans. The role involves operating a Class A commercial vehicle to transport freight between customer locations. The position offers flat-rate or mileage pay per move, Monday–Friday schedules with potential weekend work, and daily home time. Workweeks are 50–60 hours, and both first- and second-shift options are available. Health, dental, and vision benefits begin after 90 days; PTO and paid holidays are also offered. Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Valid Class A CDL.
At least 6 months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience in the last year.
Clean driving record with a proven safe-driving history.
No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years.
No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.
No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years.
Strong time-management and communication skills.
Complete the Intelli-App in Tenstreet to be considered.

Responsibilities

Operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport freight to and from customer locations.
Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer.
Follow DOT regulations, safety procedures, and company policies.
Secure and handle freight properly; loading or unloading may be required.
Maintain accurate electronic or paper logs, delivery records, and documentation.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
Promptly report mechanical issues or safety concerns.
Adhere to schedules while practicing safe driving habits.
