About The Position

St. John's University, established in 1870, is a Catholic and Vincentian university with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Division of Computer Science, Mathematics and Science offers undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields including Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, AI, Data Science, and Cyber and Information Security. The division is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach courses in computer science, cybersecurity, networking systems, information technology, or mathematics for the Spring 2027 semester.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in the discipline or a related field is required for all ranks.
  • College teaching experience is required at the assistant professor level.
  • College teaching experience is required at the associate professor level.
  • Extensive college teaching experience is required at the full professor level.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant industry experience and college teaching experience is preferred at the instructor level.
  • An earned doctorate in a related field is preferred at the associate professor level.
  • An earned doctorate in a related field is required at the full professor level.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute to students a course outline in accordance with the course syllabus.
  • Develop instructional materials (lectures, readings, assignments, exams, projects, etc.) that will achieve the learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus.
  • Evaluate student performance throughout the semester and provide periodic and constructive feedback to students in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Be available to engage with students outside the classroom by email, phone, web conferencing, or face-to-face meetings.
  • Evaluate student performance and post final grades for each student within the timeframe required by the Provost’s Office and be available for two weeks after the semester concludes to discuss final grades with students by email or phone.
  • Promptly respond to requests for information before, during, and after the course as required by the Division Chair and the CCPS Dean’s Office.
