About The Position

We are seeking an experience Catering Sales Manager to develop, promote, and manage the clubs’ private banquets, business and social events, and other member-related events and activities. This position will oversee all administrative aspects of preparing and holding special events at Medinah Country Club. This position will communicate and work with all departments to ensure that the member/hosts’ special needs and expectations are exceeded.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to sell the clubs services and facilities; a practical knowledge of food, costs, preparation and pricing is important
  • Knowledge of social customs and etiquette is essential; imagination and initiative are great assets.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to work with all types of personalities in a diplomatic and pleasant manner.
  • Has command of English language - written and spoken.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time and lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must have a professional conservative presence, business dress attire, upbeat, extrovert-type personality.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of catering sales, event planning, hospitality, country club, or private club experience preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations, standards, and procedures.
  • Office and/or catering experience beneficial.
  • Position requires a degree from a hotel or restaurant training school/college and 3 to 5 years experience in Catering Sales and Management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for members seeking to host events at Medinah Country Club.
  • Respond promptly to event inquiries and conduct venue tours as needed.
  • Develop strong relationships with members and maintain a high level of personalized service.
  • Promote club event spaces and services to maximize event bookings and revenue.
  • Meet with members and clients to determine event objectives, budgets, timelines, and special requirements.
  • Prepare event proposals, contracts, Banquet Event Orders, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate all event details, including room setups, menus, audiovisual needs, décor, entertainment, and timelines.
  • Communicate event requirements effectively to culinary, banquet, and operations teams.
  • Oversee event execution and address any issues that arise to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Partner with the Executive Chef, Banquet Manager, and other Club departments to execute on events.
  • Collaborate and communicated across departmental lines in a supportive and team-oriented manner.
  • Contribute consistently to the club’s One Team philosophy.
  • Support the Club’s overall hospitality and service standards.
  • Participate in Club events and member engagement activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate event records, contracts, deposits, and billing information.
  • Prepare reports on sales activity, bookings, and event performance.
  • Ensure compliance with the Club policies and procedures.
  • Utilize event management software to manage bookings and client communications.
