About The Position

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting all assigned catering market segments and assigned local businesses to achieve revenue goals. This role involves generating leads through various methods, booking and detailing in-house weddings, and maintaining knowledge of all hotel capabilities. The manager must merchandise function space, ensure proposals and contracts are delivered promptly, and refine product offerings. They are expected to maintain aggressive weekly solicitation, actively participate in industry events, and achieve budgeted catering revenue goals. The position also involves monitoring business sources, reviewing client details, verifying blocked space, and ensuring smooth file turnover from sales to conference services. Client entertainment and participation in pre-convention meetings are also key responsibilities. The role requires maintaining accurate client files, participating in trade organizations, and adhering to sales office procedures. Promoting a high-quality company image, recommending facility improvements, and developing action plans for administrative staff are also part of the duties. Regular visits to competitive hotels and other assigned duties are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting all assigned catering market segments and assigned local business.
  • Achieve revenue goals as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Generate leads from proper prospecting, outside sales calls, networking.
  • Track the Status of all leads surfaced.
  • Responsible for booking and detailing all In-house Weddings.
  • Merchandise function space and attain maximum room rental wherever appropriate.
  • Ensure all proposals and contracts are delivered within 24 hours.
  • Understand and follow all guidelines relating to catering merchandising, space release and “free sell” opportunities.
  • Maintain aggressive weekly phone/site solicitation.
  • Active involvement in industry-related activities.
  • Provides hotel site inspections when necessary.
  • Achieve budgeted catering revenue goals.
  • Monitor reader board service for new sources of business.
  • Review contracted resumes and banquet event orders for all your clients prior to arrival.
  • Verifies all blocked space in Delphi and details prior to executing a contract.
  • Ensure that files are correctly turned over from sales to conference service.
  • Entertains clients to establish closer working relations as needed and recommend special outside services when required.
  • Participate in final pre-con meetings prior to conference when necessary.
  • Monitor their clients when in-house.
  • Provide and deliver all required banquet information for staff meetings, reservation group cut-off meetings, BEO meetings, resume review meetings when necessary.
  • Maintain files and current trace dates, accurate history, and all relevant booking activity.
  • Actively participate in trade organizations, local social and civic groups.
  • Participate in the ongoing forecasting process.
  • Is current and abides by all sales office procedures and systems.
  • Participate in weekly Sales meetings.
  • Promote a high-quality company image by demonstrating professionalism to both clients and colleagues.
  • Recommend improvement of facilities and services as needed.
  • Develop plans and actions, for the administrative assistant/coordinator, that are congruent to his/her future goals.
  • Prepare quarterly Action Plans.
  • Regularly visit competitive hotels and report findings.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by direct report.
