About The Position

Tufts Dining is a self-operated food service provider for Tufts University's Medford/Somerville and Boston/Fenway (SMFA) campuses. It delivers food and hospitality services to students, faculty, staff, administrators, and visitors, and operates residential dining, retail services, and a university catering program.

The Catering Events Manager executes Tufts Catering services, including managing catered events in person, managing staff, and delivering exceptional customer service. The role supports the goal of making Tufts Catering the University's preferred catering partner and advances department-wide goals. The manager trains staff to industry standards, schedules and organizes staff, ensures adherence to the collective bargaining contract, and plans operations to support revenue and repeat business.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience planning and executing events for a high-volume off-site caterer at a university, hotel, or banquet facility with multiple venues.
• At least 2 years of experience scheduling and supervising full-service catering staff.
• Valid Massachusetts driver's license in good standing with no restrictions.
• Experience with fine dining and modern catering concepts, such as interactive food stations, themed receptions, and VIP events.
• Experience with responsible alcohol service and knowledge of bar, wine, and cocktail service.
• Experience managing multiple events at one time.
• Culinary experience in high-end catering service or restaurants.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree or higher, preferably in Hospitality, Management, or Business.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post weekly catering staff schedules according to business needs.

• Deliver stellar customer service to encourage repeat business.
• Support Tufts Catering's goal of becoming the preferred catering partner on campus.
• Support Tufts Dining department-wide goals.
