CATERING CAPTAIN (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Catering Captain coordinates catering staff schedules to ensure functions are delivered, served, and cleared in a timely manner. Under the supervision of the Catering Director, the captain prepares and serves food at scheduled functions and may drive a truck to deliver food and beverages. The role is based at Leidos in Reston, Virginia, and is a full-time position with a Monday-through-Friday schedule and flexible hours. The pay range is $25.00 to $27.00 per hour. A valid driver's license may be required. The employee must possess or be able to obtain a valid food handler's permit and/or alcohol servers permit where required by state law.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of catering experience.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid food handler's permit and/or alcohol servers permit where required by state law.

Responsibilities
- Determine workload requirements from catering orders.
- Meet with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements, address last-minute changes, and resolve problems.
- Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a service-oriented manner.
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items.
- Instruct staff on work expectations for catered functions.
- Help staff set up rooms to desired specifications.
- Assemble and deliver food and supplies to scheduled locations.
- Serve food and beverages to guests.
- Return food, beverages, serving equipment, and utensils to the catering facility.
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures while following HACCP standards.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
- Ensure proper food preparation by following approved recipes and production standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
