About The Position

First Chicago Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Casualty Claims Specialist to investigate and settle automobile bodily injury claims. The role handles complex liability claims requiring additional investigation and verification, as well as casualty claims involving severe injuries, extended disability, bodily injury, or coverage-related litigation. The specialist reviews assigned files and determines appropriate actions through final disposition, investigates and documents claim details, and prepares evaluations for settlement authority. The position works with third parties, plaintiff counsel, the Claim Director, and the Chief Operating Officer.

Requirements

3–5 years of casualty claims experience.
Knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
Excellent negotiation, communication, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claims adjuster.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

Review assigned claim files and determine the appropriate course of action using technical knowledge and experience to support final disposition.
Thoroughly investigate claims and maintain accurate, relevant documentation, including coverage, liability status, and applicable damages.
Process bodily injury and coverage claims in accordance with established office procedures.
Work with third parties, plaintiff counsel, the Claim Director, and the Chief Operating Officer to determine necessary injury and coverage investigations.
Research case law and statutory law to support proper claim investigation.
Document policy status, coverage, liability, and damages on all claims, and notify the reinsurer on qualifying claims.
Prepare and present claim evaluations to the appropriate settlement authority.
Maintain reasonable expense factors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
