About The Position

First Chicago Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Casualty Claims Specialist to investigate and settle automobile bodily injury claims. The role handles complex liability claims requiring additional investigation and verification, including casualty claims involving severe injuries, extended disability, bodily injury, or coverage-related litigation. The specialist reviews assigned files, conducts investigations, documents claim activity, processes claims under office procedures, works with relevant parties on injury and coverage investigations, researches applicable law, prepares claim evaluations, and manages expenses.

Requirements

3–5 years of casualty claims experience.
Knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
Excellent negotiation, communication, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claims adjuster.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

Review each assigned file and determine an appropriate course of action using technical knowledge and experience to support the final disposition of a loss.
Conduct thorough investigations and maintain accurate, relevant documentation of claim activity, including coverage, liability status, and applicable damages.
Process bodily injury and coverage claims in accordance with established office procedures.
Work with third parties, plaintiff counsel, the Claim Director, and the Chief Operating Officer to determine necessary injury and coverage investigations.
Research case law and statutory law to conduct proper claim investigations.
Document policy status, coverage, liability, and damages on all claims, and notify the reinsurer on qualifying claims.
Prepare and present claim evaluations for the appropriate settlement authority.
Maintain reasonable expense factors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
