About The Position

As a Lowe’s cashier, you help customers leave the store with a positive experience by providing quick, friendly checkout service and helping them get the best value. Most of your time is spent at the register, but you may also assist other departments, stock shelves, or move carts as needed. The position involves answering questions, handling payments and exchanges, and helping customers in the self-checkout area. Occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed; regular travel is not required.

Working conditions vary by location and may include indoor and outdoor weather, extreme heat or cold, wet, damp, humid, windy, or drafty conditions, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Associates must follow lifting guidelines, limiting single lifts to 75 pounds and using team lifts minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed. Powered equipment should be used as required with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.

Requirements

• Read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• Ability to minimally lift 10 pounds unassisted or over 15 pounds with or without accommodation.
• Obtain sales-related licensure or registration if required by law in the state.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a fast, friendly, and professional checkout experience.
