About The Position

The Cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise. The role provides customer service, processes transactions, maintains the front end, and supports store operations. The position is with Westlake Ace Hardware, part of Ace Retail Group, which operates neighborhood hardware stores and is guided by its stated core values.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and climb.

Nice To Haves

Cashier experience preferred.
Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Represent Westlake Ace Hardware positively and greet customers throughout the store.
Thank departing customers by name when possible, and maintain a friendly, outgoing demeanor with customers and associates.
Keep checkout lines moving quickly and efficiently.
Answer and monitor calls and pages promptly, courteously, and effectively; communicate issues requiring management assistance.
Build product knowledge and help customers find products and navigate the store.
Assist with pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging merchandise.
Follow cash register transaction procedures and balance the register drawer.
Implement applicable Store Support Center programs and promotions at registers.
Participate in store and cashier meetings.
Keep checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean; face and dust the front end.
Stock and face impulse counters, rotate seasonal merchandise, and keep fresh ads in shopping carts.
Keep forms and supplies stocked and assist with front-end decorating according to Store Support Center programs.
Call for cart pickups when necessary and inform management when returned merchandise needs to be put away.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Incorporate the company’s core values into daily decisions and interactions.
