About The Position

The Cashier handles register transactions involving merchandise sales and returns. The role provides friendly, efficient customer service; follows cash register procedures; maintains the checkout and front-end areas; and assists with merchandise pricing, stocking, and upkeep. The Cashier is expected to reflect the company’s core values in daily decisions and interactions.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and climb.

Nice To Haves

Cashier experience preferred.
Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Represent Westlake Ace Hardware positively and greet customers as they enter and throughout the store.
Thank customers by name when possible as they leave.
Maintain a friendly, outgoing demeanor and work effectively with customers and associates.
Keep checkout lines moving quickly and efficiently.
Answer and monitor calls and pages promptly, courteously, and effectively.
Refer problems or issues requiring management assistance to management.
Build product knowledge and help customers with store layout and product locations.
Assist with pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging merchandise.
Follow all cash register transaction procedures and balance the register drawer.
Implement applicable Store Support Center programs or promotions at the registers.
Participate in store and Cashier meetings.
Keep checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean; face and dust the front end.
Keep impulse counters stocked and faced, rotating seasonal merchandise as needed.
Keep fresh advertisements stocked in shopping carts and keep forms and supplies stocked.
Assist with front-end decorating according to the Store Support Center program.
Call for cart pickups when necessary.
Inform management when returned merchandise needs to be put away.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Incorporate the company’s core values into daily decisions and interactions.
