About The Position

Join a contractor supporting the installation of a new manufacturing line within an active production facility in Lawrence, KS. This role provides hands-on safety leadership for demolition, equipment installation, and multi-trade construction activities in an occupied manufacturing environment. The Site Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence while working directly with craft personnel, subcontractors, supervision, and client representatives to identify hazards, maintain compliance, and support safe project execution. This project presents unique challenges including active facility operations, hot work activities, multiple trades working concurrently, and communication with client personnel operating nearby.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Site Safety Manager on large or complex construction projects
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience conducting safety audits, orientations, and toolbox talks
  • Strong field presence and leadership abilities
  • Experience working around multiple contractors and active construction operations
  • Ability to manage safety documentation and project compliance requirements
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing Facility Construction
  • Working knowledge of Demolition Operations
  • Working knowledge of Hot Work Activities
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of Multi-Trade Construction Coordination

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily site safety audits and inspections
  • Lead employee and contractor safety orientations
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas
  • Monitor demolition and installation activities
  • Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions
  • Review safe work practices and project requirements with crews
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific requirements
  • Coordinate safety activities with project management and field supervision
  • Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation
