About The Position

The Cashier demonstrates Miner's Ace Hardware’s customer service standards as customers enter and leave the store, helping create an environment where customers want to shop and employees want to work. The role requires an enthusiastic, positive, and supportive attitude, accurate point-of-sale transactions, and attentive, courteous customer service. The cashier also supports store operations and responds to customer, safety, and management needs.

Requirements

Ability to report to all scheduled shifts on time and ready to work.
Willingness to learn.
Positive attitude and ability to work well with the team.
Basic math skills for operating a register.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet business needs.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Ensure each customer receives outstanding service in accordance with the S.A.L.E.S. process and mystery shop standards.
Greet customers as they enter the store, give full attention to the customer being served, and thank customers for their business.
Attend all scheduled shifts regularly and on time.
Answer phone calls with the proper greeting and deal with customers tactfully, professionally, and pleasantly.
Maintain awareness of promotions and advertisements.
Accurately and efficiently operate point-of-sale registers and maintain cash at registers.
Scan every item at the point of sale without exception.
Keep the register area orderly and supplies stocked.
Call for backup cashiers when needed.
Encourage customers to open an Ace Rewards card.
Issue receipts, refunds, credits, change, money, or vouchers according to policy and procedures.
Respond to safety issues and remain alert to shoplifting activity.
Return items to the appropriate departments before the end of each shift.
Receive payments by cash, check, credit card, voucher, or automatic debit, and process sales and other transactions.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet store or management needs.
