About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases courteously and efficiently, provides excellent member service, and helps maintain the cleanliness of the front-line department. The role includes verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships; offering membership products and loyalty programs; scanning merchandise and processing payments; assisting members at self-checkout; and helping keep the club safe, clean, and organized. Team members follow club policies and procedures, work collaboratively, and maintain a friendly, positive attitude. The position requires regular, predictable, full attendance and may include duties in other departments as needed.

Availability needed: 1 p.m.–9 p.m. three days a week and 8 a.m.–4 p.m. one morning a week.

Responsibilities

• Explain membership options and offer appropriate products, including renewals, EASY renewal, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and check members out in a timely, efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations and scan-and-pan lanes.
• Collect payments by cash, check, or other charge payment methods, and issue receipts or change.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain front-line cleanliness and assist with general club housekeeping when needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Assist members with operational and technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Maintain visible, accurate signage; keep items stocked and promotional plans executed; and support clean, organized club standards.
• Work as a team to deliver member service and daily club standards, address or escalate concerns, and help maintain a safe, positive environment.
• Perform other assigned duties, including work in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
