About The Position

The Cashier is responsible for checking out customers’ merchandise through POS registers and performing customer-service activities, including greeting and acknowledging customers promptly and warmly and handling merchandise with care. The role supports a pleasant and productive shopping experience by assisting customers with purchasing decisions, maintaining product knowledge, and keeping the immediate checkout area stocked and orderly. The position performs duties under general supervision using established procedures and occasional independent judgment.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change.
• Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and associates.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.
• Ability to stand and/or walk throughout the shift and perform the physical activities described in the posting, including lifting objects up to 20 pounds constantly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally with team lifting as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, prompt, and professional customer service and help ensure a pleasant shopping experience.
• Approach customers in a friendly and outgoing manner and remain knowledgeable about products and advertised sales.
• Operate the POS register to check out customer merchandise, calculate discounts, and make change.
• Handle merchandise with care.
• Stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not ringing up purchases.
• Assist customers with buying decisions by identifying and evaluating their needs and making product recommendations.
• Promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Make recommendations regarding work procedures, policies, and practices.
