About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate provides friendly, accurate, and efficient customer service while helping keep the store clean, safe, stocked, and inviting. The role includes operating the register; handling lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements; and offering product recommendations or upselling where appropriate. Associates clean and maintain indoor and outdoor areas, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and the parking lot, and take trash to the dumpster in all weather. They stock shelves, coolers, and displays, may cross-train in other departments such as deli, and follow company safety procedures and policies. The position requires working weekends and holidays, staying on one's feet for most of a shift, and working indoors and outdoors in varied weather. Full-time and part-time schedules are available.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be prepared to work on one's feet for most of a shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Must be personable, positive, detail-oriented, reliable, responsible, and flexible.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible.
- Deep-clean high-use restrooms.
- Wipe down and sanitize gas pumps, including nozzles, screens, and water buckets.
- Pick up litter and trash from store floors and the parking lot.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, maintain entryways, and keep the store organized and safe.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Help teammates and step in wherever needed.
