About The Position

Thomas Cuisine is seeking a friendly and dependable Cashier/Retail Associate to join the dining team at West Valley College in Saratoga, California. The role supports an exceptional dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors by preparing food and beverages, operating the register, and maintaining a clean, welcoming, and organized retail space. The position is full-time, pays $19 per hour, and is scheduled Monday through Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The role is part of a campus food service environment and involves cashiering, cash-control tasks, stocking, meal-service preparation, customer service, and cleaning. The position requires standing for long periods, lifting trays, and performing repetitive tasks. Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, kitchen fumes and airborne particles, moderate noise, and occasional wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and vibration. Requirements

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register with an accuracy of 99.85% (plus or minus).
• Set up the appropriate cashier bank.
• Document cash received and charges made.
• Identify customer needs and refer them to the appropriate department for follow-up when necessary.
• Collect data for cash control.
• Stock refrigerators with beverages, condiments, and other items.
• Clean, sanitize, and polish general work areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and removing trash.
• Prepare and gather items needed for meal service.
• Provide exceptional service to all guests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
